A pony entry for a change - I know I don't post pictures of them very much anymore. It doesn't mean I don't love them to bits though!! With the lack of new releases I haven't been as inspired, and I won't lie, I have a serious pullip addiction. Photographing ponies also isn't as dynamic and varied as pullips are - you can't pose the ponies!
Anyways - There's been much unrest in the pony community lately over Hasbro's decision to go with the Core 7 group of ponies. For those who don't collect ponies, it basically means that for the next year (and hopefully no longer than that!) the majority of ponies released (if not all of them) will be the same seven ponies. Over, and over again, with slight variations in their appearance. This has many, many people *really* pissed off. On top of that, *all* of the ponies are being released in the same pose. There is reason behind it I guess - although a pretty stupid one. There is new plastic clothing for them to wear that comes with some sets, and the pose is designed for everyone to be able to wear everything.
( my thoughts on the core 7... )I am definitely in the minority, but I am actually liking a lot of what is to come in 2008. At this point, I will have at least two, if not three of all of the core seven when all is said and done. (If not more depending on if we aren't yet seeing everything that will be released) The variations are subtle, but I like them. I think it would be kind of cool to have a shelf devoted to them and to see all the incarnations lined up together.
If you haven't seen these yet and are interested, here are the newly released pictures of the 2008 line from the NY Toy Fair:
